Movie Review: Fifty Shades of Grey

Fifty Shades of Grey

Before you start reading my review, I do not support sexual assault, rape, or mental and physical abuse. Just because a person chooses to read a certain novel or watch a certain movie does not mean that a person supports these negative claims. I have only one thing to say to those that choose to say these things, and I will put it in quotes for you all. "If you don't want to read it, if you don't want to watch it, or even hear it, then don't go judging people for wanting to know (1) what the hype is all about, (2) find out why this is a successful series, and (3) read/watch it yourself because you want to know what has gotten this certain book/movie crazed reviews and torn options."

To each their own. Don't go judging people just because you, personally, do not like it.

Now let's talk about the review!

Fifty Shades of Grey is a novel written by El James, which originally started as Twilight fan-fiction, that ultimately was about a dominant billionaire named Christian Grey and a young naive college student named Anastasia Steele. The relationship between Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele quickly escalates, which later leads to Grey asking Steele to sign a contract to become a 'submissive'. Did I mention she's a virgin....

The movie soundtrack was beautifully put together and I enjoyed listening to all the amazing artists on there. But the movie on the other hand was alright. The chemistry and/or attraction was basically nonexistent between the main protagonist, Anastasia Steele (played by Dakota Johnson), and her love interest, Christian Grey (played by Jamie Dornan).  I have to admit, this movie made me laugh hysterically in the theaters....kinda awkward when dozens of people are staring at you thinking you are crazy.   Oh well! :)

The movie had horrible dialogue, the actors were not properly chosen (no chemistry, awkward banter, and most of all THE FACIAL EXPRESSIONS!!!!), the script was not up to standards that I would have wanted it to be, and every sex scene was just......[no words to describe what I went through].

It was so crazy similar to Twilight that I found myself comparing the two countless times. But that truly wasn't fair because at least Twilight had some other hook to keep you watching (vampires v.s. werewolves, countless villains, and a severely forced love triangle that we all knew would end up with Bella picking Edward...sorry for the spoiler but you should have known by now). I mean come on! Their only hook was SEX!!!

The movie was Twilight with sex, different names, and no supernatural beings. If you are into light porn or just feel completed bored and want to watch at least something, well then this movie is for you! Otherwise, it is a waste of money that will leave you shaking your head wondering how far in life you had to come to actually go to the movie theaters to watch this.

Out of 5 stars, I gave this a 2.5
The reason behind this decision is due to the fact that at least it made me laugh in the beginning...that and the fact that at least it was slightly entertaining (when it didn't have constant sex scenes).

Poison Princess by Kresley Cole

Poison Princess Synopsis:

Sixteen-year-old Evie Greene’s horrific hallucinations predicted the apocalypse, and the end of the world brought her all sorts of new powers. With the earth scorched and few survivors, Evie teams up with handsome and dangerous Jack Deveaux in a race to find answers. They discover that that an ancient prophesy is being played out, and Evie is not the only one with special powers. A group of teens have been chosen to reenact the ultimate battle between good and evil. But it’s not always clear who is on which side…

What Book am I Reading Now?

I should start off with the fact that the novel does precede to go from BF (before the flash) and AF (after the flash). Now, in the beginning of the prologue we see Evangeline (a.k.a. Evie) Greene through the eyes of a mysterious man, who happens to be a sociopath, and witness the story of Evie Greene starting from BF to this very moment. As chapter one begins we flash back to BF and what Evie' life was like before anything began to happen. We are introduced to her loving and caring boyfriend Brandon Radcliffe, and her loyal and devoted best friend Melissa Warren. We are also introuced to the lifestyle that surrounds the three characters listed above and the trouble their lifestyle, and life, face when the poor kids from the Basin parish come to their school. One of which happens to be Jack Deveaux, who apparently has a criminal record. I am not going to get fully into the story because I do not want to spoil anything for anyone but life AF seems to ultimately change all characters involved in this story.

This story was amazing to read, I just couldn't stop myself from either crying or laughing because Kresley Cole just wrote this novel in a way that made you feel as if you were a part of this adventure of self-discovery, love, forgiveness, and perseverance. I adored every moment of this novel and can not possible wait to read the sequel "Endless Knight".

I would have to recommend this novel if you have read the Under the Never Sky, Angelfall, The Dark Light, Alice in Zombieland, Valkyrie Rising, and the 5th Wave.

I have to give this novel a 5 stars out of 5 because it was an amazingly heartfelt novel that really made me feel apart of this beautifully written novel.
