After the Hurt is so provocatively cool that even I had to admire (and slightly drooled over) the cover. The novel is about Pepper Chapman, who when blinded by the grief of her mother's death abandoned her man. Now she wants a second chance to make things right...she wants the future they have planned since they were young.
Tank Sherman, retired MMA star, was left reeling after the emotional sucker punch Pepper delivered. Trying to ignore the pain, forget the pleasure, and move on is suddenly a lot harder since Pepper shows up out of the blue asking for forgiveness. However, Tank will not let himself get hurt again, resisting her and the chemistry that burns between them, because he knows that if he takes Pepper back he will never be able to let her go again.
I am going to be totally honest with you all, I am a sucker for bad-boy & second chance romance. So when I was given the opportunity to review After the Hurt by Shana Gray, I jumped on that wagon. I was anticipating when I would be reviewing the novel that when I actually started to read it I felt disappointed. It didn't seem to entertain me or keep me captivated enough to want to finish it (pure willpower). I sort-of-liked the characters but did not feel any emotional pull, connection, or....anything for them. Which disappointed me even more.
What I noticed was that there was also some repetition when it came to the dialogue between Pepper and Tank. I didn't necessary like it but at the same time it didn't really bother me either. It was just...there. In the end, this book had so much potential. Due to the fact that there was no character depth, the novel lacked any emotional pull, and it did not seem to entertain me I have to state that this novel just was not the book for me.
