The One That Got Away mainly revolves around Jamie Kingston and Brynn Chandler's relationship. They have been best friends since middle school. When Brynn gives Jamie a kiss, there friendship was tested. Planning to never cross the line again, they continue on with their friendship.
Jamie has loved Brynn for as long as he can remember and now he is ready to tell her. However, she now has her sights on someone else. Knowing this is his last chance, he asks Brynn to go on a two-week road trip. Their time alone brings old hurt and Brynn is left to decide if the one that got away is at the end of this journey or if he has been her side all along.
I am a major sucker for road trips and friends turned lovers. Fear has kept Jamie and Brynn from trying to move from friends to lovers. Being afraid that if they crossed the line, their relationship would fall apart and nothing would ever be the same again. However, when an old high school crush of Brynn's is at their high school reunion, they must face their past and any possible future together. The characters are relatable (especially their insecurities), the struggles were real, and the plot was delightful.
If you like novels filled with romance, heartache, tears, and laughter, then I would definitely recommend you read this novel.

About The Author:
AJ Pine writes stories to break readers’ hearts, but don’t worry—she’ll mend them with a happily ever after. As an English teacher and a librarian, AJ has always surrounded herself with books. All her favorites have one big commonality–romance. Naturally, her books have the same. When she’s not writing, she’s of course reading. Then there’s online shopping (everything from groceries to shoes) and, of course, a tiny bit of TV where she nourishes her undying love of vampires and superheroes. And in the midst of all of this, you’ll also find her hanging with her family in the Chicago burbs.
AJ Pine is the author of IF ONLY and WHAT IF with Entangled Embrace and the upcoming ONE NIGHT and ONE LIFE with Penguin/Intermix in 2015.
